Can You Use O'keeffe's Foot Cream on Your Hands

Accept y'all always heard the expression, "Kick up your heels?" Information technology'southward meant to signify something positive, but when you have dry, croaky heels, that's probably the last affair you'd desire to exercise. Y'all don't want to kick those dry out heels upwards for everyone to see—you want to hide them and wallow in shame (or at to the lowest degree I do). My anxiety are always a bit dry, but lately, the dryness has escalated into a huge fissure in my right heel. And then when Cyber Mon rolled effectually yesterday, I briefly considered buying a pes foam. But and then I thought, what'south the divergence betwixt torso lotion and foot foam? Couldn't I only utilize mitt cream on my feet?

That got me thinking near why companies make hand creams and foot creams. Is at that place merit to it, or is it just another thing they want to sell you? Could hand cream work on your feet, if it was thick and hydrating plenty? And could foot cream work on your hands, every bit long equally it wasn't overly thick and greasy?

I sent my dad the ingredients for O'Keeffe's Working Hands paw cream and O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet foot cream to run across what he thought.

O'Keeffe'south Working Hands manus cream ingredients

water, glycerin, stearic acid, dimethicone, ceteth-10, laureth-four, paraffin, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, allantoin, ammonium hydroxide, octyldodecyl stearate, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, acrylates/acrylamide copolymer, boric acid, mineral oil, polysorbate 85

water, glycerin, stearic acrid, dimethicone, ceteth-10, laureth-4, allantoin, ammonium hydroxide, paraffin, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, octyldodecyl stearate, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, acryaltes/acrylamide copolymer, boric acid, mineral oil, polysorbate 85

Honey Emily, these two formulas should comprise the same amount of moisturizer ,the departure is additional "alkane" (is a moisturizer besides)which provides a protective layer for the skin and assistance retain moisture longer. I'll use hand cream for every bit foot cream as well (the toll should be close)

Love,
Dad

My dad thinks that O'Keeffe's Working Hands hand foam and O'Keeffe'southward Good for you Feet foot foam are largely the same, except that the hand cream as well includes an extra ingredient: paraffin. Paraffin is too a moisturizer that protects the skin and helps it retain wet. Therefore, he recommends using the paw cream as a pes foam, since it contains this extra moisturizing ingredient. Edit: Thanks to a comment from a reader, it appears that my dad was saying that the paw cream contains may comprise more/additional paraffin (since paraffin appears higher in the ingredient listing) then information technology may be more moisturizing than the foot cream. Another reader pointed out that the main difference between these two products was allantoin, which appears college in the ingredient list in the pes foam vs. the manus cream. Read more well-nigh the benefits of allantoin here.

All of this convinced me that I didn't need to spring for a defended human foot foam, because I already own O'Keeffe's Working Easily hand cream. I decided to try applying that to my dry heels at night, instead of buying a foot cream.

I tin can think of merely a few reasons why you might want to opt for a defended foot cream or a dedicated manus foam when all yous accept is one or the other (east.thousand., y'all want to apply non-hand-cream to your hands or apply not-human foot-foam to your anxiety):

  • you only ain runny body lotion (akin to CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, non a body or hand cream like O'Keeffe'south Working Hands hand cream. You need something that would be thick enough to soak into the thick skin of your feet.
  • you own a foot foam, and it's too thick and greasy to employ on your hands

In my case, I was able to use O'Keeffe's Working Hands hand cream on my feet, with adept results and then far. I actually never noticed that this product contained paraffin until my dad pointed it out. Paraffin always makes me recollect of melted candle wax. When I rub it into the crack in my heel, it feels similar it's really filling in the crevice, which is squeamish. Afterward I utilise it, I simply slip a sock over it and get to sleep.

I did information technology terminal nighttime and it in the morning, I saw marked improvement in the crack in my heel. I'yard going to continue using it and seeing how it works out. If it doesn't continue to amend, I might simply accept to give the foot cream a become. But for now, I think the hand cream will do just fine.
